EC To Address Ballot Paper Error

Officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) in the Ashanti Region have said that concerns expressed by the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in connection with the omission of some inscriptions on the parliamentary ballot papers to be used for this year’s elections, will be addressed at its national headquarters in Accra.

The party rejected the parliamentary ballot papers over the omissions.

The regional chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, led a protest at the regional office of the EC to that effect.

According to the party, the initials of the NPP were missing on the ballot papers.

The party said it did not understand why the initials of all the other contesting parties appeared except those of the NPP.

But the Ashanti Regional Director of the EC has assured the party officials that they “will communicate the development to our head office and get back to you”.

He further explained that “the NPP agents were at the printing house” and wondered why the officials did not raise such concerns before printing.
