A 19-year-old Orphan, name withheld, has been raped in her own room at Domeabra in the GA-South municipality of the Greater Accra region, Tuesday.
According to her, the suspect said to be a landguard broke the door and forcefully defiled her in her around 9pm Tuesday night.
“He knocked on my door countless times claiming to have information for me. Upon refusing, he broke my door and pounced on me, closing my mouth and inserting his manhood into my vagina. It was too painful to bear…," she said sadly.
She continued that “He didn’t use a condom. He told me that I will see his face the following day. Interestingly, I saw him in the neighborhood with his four friends”.
The young woman said she reported the case at the Amanfrom Police station where she was provided medical forms to attend hospital.
But the victim indicated that, she could not access medical care becuase she was asked pay before seeing the doctor.
“I was told to pay GHC70.00 before I could receive medical attention. So I returned home.” She added. Listen to the victim
On his part, the Unit Committee Chairman of Domeabra, Joseph Ayitey in an interview with Adom News’ Kofi Adjei bemoaned the incessant rape cases begin recorded in the town.
He revealed that, in less than a month, three young girls have been raped by the landguards in the area.
“They are landguards from Denkyira. They come here on most evenings to defile young girls here. The police are stationed away from us so we don’t get them here quicker when needed; this is the third rape case to have been recorded" he added.
Mr. Ayitey appealed to the police to come to their aid to protect lives and property in the town.
