Smartty's Scandal: How Ghana Was Ripped Off

Political Pressure Group OccupyGhana have served notice to pursue the remaining monies yet to be retrieved by government in the controversial Smartty’s bus branding scandal.

Leading member, Ace Ankomah noted in a forum organized by the group on Wednesday that they were bent on pushing for individuals involved in the scandal to be prosecuted.

Last year, a bus branding contract costing GHS3.6m which was awarded to a private company- Smartty’s- generated a public backlash.

A leaked investigative report from the office of the Attorney General revealed that the contract with Smartty’s concluded before the procurement process started.

The procedure was in violation of the nation’s procurement laws.
The then Minister for Transport, Dzifa Attivor, resigned following revelations surrounding the bus branding contract.

OccupyGhana has submitted a 20-page dossier to the Attorney General to demand prosecution of guilty officials.
