NPP's Rants Pathetic Boamah

Communications Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah has suggested the achievements of the erstwhile Kufuor government cannot match up to those of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration of the last eight years.

Dr Boamah, who was addressing journalists in a press conference on Monday, November 28, queried: “Is it not a matter of record that these politicians utilised the mandate given them between 2001 and 2008 to do a fraction of what we have done?”

He was of the view that “many of the young people they are courting would have found employment long before the NDC came into office, particularly as they promised to find them jobs and went ahead to register over 1 million but failed woefully to give them jobs as they had promised”.

According to him, “what makes their ranting more pathetic is that they do not offer credible alternatives” to the numerous issues they constantly criticise.

He said: “Mr Mahama will not sacrifice long-term gains of the nation for short-term political benefits.”

For him, the Mahama government will not relent on its efforts to provide job opportunities.

He cited the Atuabo Free Port Project, Integrated Aluminium Industry, the Accra Digital Centre, and the agribusiness initiatives.

He said they have supported the private sector significantly to expand and create more jobs.
