Natural Resources Not Enough for Development

As Ghana prepares for commercial production of oil by the year 2011 with high expectation of economic prosperity, members of the public have been advised to rather focus more on attitudinal change and a change of negative mentality. The Director of the West Africa Office of Samaritan Strategy Mr. Christopher Ampadu gave the advise in Accra. He said abundant natural resources such as timber, gold, diamond and manganese among other resources are economically beneficial to a country. He however observed that the economic impact of such natural resources cannot be fully felt if public officials and the entire public do not change their negative habits and mentality. Mr. Christopher Ampadu was speaking to Peace FM in an interview at the 2009 National Vision Conference of Samaritan Strategy in Accra. The 5-day conference is being attended by Church leaders, women groups and leaders of other organizations under the themeEquipping Gods people for transformation leadership. African traditional religion, the role of the church in society, leadership and teamwork and worldview and development are some of the topics being discussed at the conference.
