I voted today in my motherland After standing in scorching sun and sand I voted today in my motherland I used head and heart before my hand
I sorted the facts from the fiction With wisdom and sound education Noted the harmony and friction In the run up to this election
Compared the past and present In my community and beloved nation But made the future more important As I pondered with rapt attention
I questioned work, cost and contribution Observed crime, claims and contrition Researched each statement, policy and vision Noted the best and worst in our nation
I questioned the wealth and starvation Government contracts and indignation In past and present administrations Compared performance and proclamations
Vis-avis dreams and aspirations Of teeming youth with no occupations I sorted the truth from fabrication And truth brought me to a calm decision. I voted. I voted wisely. Please vote too. And do it peacefully. God bless; nothing less.
