OccupyGhana Congratulates President-Elect Nana Addo

OccupyGhana® congratulates Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party on his overwhelming victory in this year’s presidential elections. We particularly celebrate his unwavering focus on issue-based campaigning, his abhorrence of divisive, ethnocentric sentimentalism during the months leading to Election Day, and his calming demeanour during the fraught hours of delay prior to the final declaration of the results by the Chair of Ghana's Electoral Commission.

OccupyGhana® also congratulates the outgoing President, John Dramani Mahama, on his positive contribution to peace and calm during the elections and while results were being tallied. The contributions of the leaders of all parties were critical to the success of the election process.

OccupyGhana® further congratulates the Electoral Commission, the good people of Ghana, and all stakeholders of Ghana's maturing democratic pedigree on the execution of successful, free, fair and credible General Elections. We are proud of our nation's glowing reputation and leading example for peaceful elections in a continent known for pockets of electoral violence and dictatorial oppression by governments.

Nana Akufo-Addo’s commitment to the Rule of Law is the stuff of Ghanaian legal legend, and we are confident that the same acuity for freedom and justice will attend the president-elect’s leadership in ways that will make it unprofitable and even deadly for government appointees to engage in corrupt practices that loot the nation's scarce resources and siphon cash and assets Ghana can ill-afford to lose.

We are also confident that his new and dynamic leadership will recover for Ghana the stolen loot of public funds eaten away by corruption, and end the reign of impunity that some public officials and their private sector counterparts have used to bleed the country dry of our meagre financial resources. We commend the NPP on their pro-active anti-corruption policy proposals and look forward to collaborating with the new government to create a more transparent, accountable and fair environment. This will only enhance the business environment and ensure swifter achievement of prosperity for our beloved Ghana and her people.

We rejoice with the people of Ghana, and assure all and sundry that our quest to stop corruption, encourage good governance and assault anything that will undermine the political, economic, and social well-being of Ghana will continue regardless of a change in government. We will hold a New Patriotic Party government accountable to the same probing principles we have held the outgoing National Democratic Congress government to.

God richly bless the land and people of Ghana.

Yours, for God and Country,

OccupyGhana®
