Lets Work To Restore Dagbon To Former Glory Nana Addo

President-elect, Nana Akufo-Addo, has urged the people of Dagbon to work towards maintaining peace and unity for the accelerated development of the area.

He made these remarks when a delegation of traditional rulers from the Mamprungu and Dagbon traditional areas, paid a courtesy call on him to congratulate on him on his election victory, and to pledge their support to him. Nana Akufo-Addo also reassured the people of Dagbon he would be a strong partner in restoring the dignity of the Dagbon Kingdom following the chieftaincy dispute between two feuding royal gates, the Andanis and the Abudus.

He said “I have no interest in the domestic matters of Dagbon. All that I need to do is to encourage everybody to work together so that we can bring progress to our country. That is my interest.” “I want to reassure with the statements I made in Yendi when I came, that I am not the hostage of anybody in the Dagbon matter. Those statements continue to be true today.” Nana Akufo-Addo during his visit to Yendi whilst campaigning, dispelled some rumours that he was siding with the Abudu royals in Dagbon.

According to him, he had no business in meddling with the Dagbon chieftaincy institution and called for absolute reconciliation and unity in the once vibrant Dagbon kingdom. During the courtesy call, the President-elect said he would be counting on the traditional rulers for cooperation so that “the issues that have to be resolved are resolved, and that the Dagbon that all of us have known as one of the most respected traditional states in our country, becomes that again.”
