Oko Vanderpuije Did Not Say He Can Serve On Local Government Committee

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Greater Accra Regional Secretariat has noted with utter disgust and disappointment the false and malicious publication of the 19th and 20th December, 2016 in some news portals captioned “I can serve on Local Government Committee” and attributed to the out-going Chief Executive of Accra Metropolitan Assembly and the MP-elect for Ablekuma South, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije.

For the records, the NDC seeks to state emphatically, that at no point was Dr. Oko Vanderpuije interviewed during the said exercise (registration of new entrants to parliament) where he indicated the committee on which he can best serve. The fact is Dr Oko Vanderpuije is not conversant with parliamentary proceedings; hence it will be awkward for him to be suggesting where to be and where not to be.

Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije is a distinguished consummate politician and party man whose loyalty to the NDC is unwavering and would never betray the trust and confidence repose in him as a result of his competence and hard work to serve as the MP on the ticket of the great NDC party.

It is very unfortunate that an esteemed news portal like Ghanaweb, and other affiliate news portals can spew such lies against the person of Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije.

To make such untruthful and absurd claims against this gentleman is very alarming and an attack on his hard won reputation locally, nationally and internationally.

I therefore demand that such story should be retracted and an apology rendered and given the same prominence as Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije is offended by this false publication.

HON. VICTOR QUASHIE ADONOO
