Mustapha Hamid Quits Lecturing To Serve Under NPP Govt.

According to Mr Hamid, it was agreed that he resigns from the position to allow him concentrate on his work as spokesperson for the president-elect.

Speaking to Viasat 1 News, Mustapha Hamid, who is also a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast said he had initiated the process of taking leave from the school in order to serve in the incoming government.

He said his withdrawal from the transition team is not a demotion but an agreement reached to allow him concentrate on his duties as spokesperson for Nana Addo.

“I will ask a leave of absence from the university, the processes which i have started in order to disengage and serve full capacity in government. I’m the spokesperson of Nana Akufo-Addo and that in itself is huge responsibility, so on hindsight, i shouldn’t have accepted the added responsibility as the spokesperson for the transition team,” Mustapha Hamid explained.

“A transition team has a short lifespan, so that is no position at all, as far as i’m concerned,” he added.

Mustapha Hamid reiterated the NPP’s position on the last minute appointments and contracts awarded by the outgoing NDC government describing it as an “exercise in bad faith”.

He stated that the NPP will review such contracts and appointees within the confines of the law.
