Official: Akufo-Addo Becomes 5th President of The Fourth Republic (Video)

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been sworn in as President of the Republic of Ghana. Nana Akufo-Addo swore the presidential oath and the oath of allegiance on Saturday, January 7 to loud cheers from thousands of supporters at the Black Star Square in Accra.

He therefore becomes the 5th President of the Fourth Republic, taking over from John Dramani Mahama, who was also at the venue. Nana Akufo-Addo won the December 7, 2016 elections by 53.85 per cent on his way to fulfilling a lifetime dream. It was his third attempt at the presidency, having lost the previous contests to the late John Evans Atta Mills and Mr Mahama, in 2008 and 2012 respectively.
