Bawumia Sworn In As Vice President

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has sworn the oath of office and oath of allegiance as the sixth Vice President of the Fourth Republic.


The oaths were administered by the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood, at the Black Star Square on Saturday, January 7. In the presence of predominantly African leaders and Members of the Seventh Parliament as well as thousands of supporters, Dr Bawumia, by swearing the oaths, takes office as Vice President. He is a former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Governor.


He is a trained economist and has lectured Economics at various universities across Africa. He was named as Nana Akufo-Addo’s running mate prior to the 2008 elections and has remained loyal to him since then. Dr Bawumia is expected to lead the charge of transforming the Ghanaian economy as promised by Nana Akufo-Addo. He will chair the Government Economic Team.
