Ghana FA Confirm Friendly With Bunyodkor Ahead Of AFCON

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed a friendly match with the Swallows next week ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana Football Association have confirmed a friendly encounter with Uzbekistan top-flight FC Bunyodkor in Dubai on January 10, following Morocco’s rejection of a proposed encounter.

The Black Stars have been training in the Gulf region for the past five days and coach Avram Grant has named his final 23-man squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Gabon from January 14 to February 5.

Ghana are in Group D with Egypt, Uganda and Mali.

"Ghana have lined a friendly against Uzbekistan giants Bunyodkor on Tuesday. The Black Stars will be playing the Asian side in the friendly in Dubai," a statement from Ghana FA website read.

"The four-time African champions will play the friendly in preparation for this month's Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon. Avram Grant's side will play the match against Bunyodkor at the Sevens Stadium in Dubai [and] kick off time for the game is 13h00 GMT.

"Ghana are likely to play another friendly before the team departs to Gabon for the tournament," the statement added.

The Black Stars' group opponent Uganda defeated Slovenia 1-0 in an international friendly on Friday thanks to a first-half goal by Onduparaka FC striker Muhammad Shaban. The Cranes lost their first game 2-0 to Tunisia on Wednesday.
