Calm Restored At Passport Office - Director of Passport

Calm has been restored at the Passport Office, the Director of Passport Alexander Grant Ntrakwa says.

Speaking in an interview with Class FM, which was monitored by Peacefmonline.com; the Director of Passport explained that some fanatics of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government numbering about 15 barged into the premises demanding to take over security and administration of the passport office.

According to him, the presence of the intruders, claimed to be members of the private security forces of the NPP "Invincible Forces" turned confrontational as the security personnel manning the passport office refused to allow them.

Mr. Grant however managed to apprehend six of the men to his office and upon interrogation, was told that the men had come to the passport office following an order from the Flagstaff House.

“They started, I mean, hurting them; telling them that they’ve taken over. They should leave the place for them. It was chaotic there. So, I had to call some of the other security personnel in the building to go out to support their colleagues there, to find out what actually was happening.

“In the process, they managed to bring about 5 or 6 of them to my office. And I ask them what their mission was and they told me that they’ve been sent from the Flagstaff House to come and take over the passport office, and that they’re coming to place their members who belong to the Invincible Forces at the gate to be manning the entrance.”

He further stated that he was compelled to call the Police who intervened in the situation to calm down tempers.

Mr. Grant added that "there was no vandalization of anything. The only encounter was with the security personnel at the gate. And they said they were going to post their personnel at the passport office to man the security here.”
