Mahama Quitting 2020 Contest Will Be A Big Blow Kofi Adams

The 2016 Campaign Coordinator for the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Kofi Adams says he will stage a demonstration should President Mahama refuse the consensus for him to still lead the party for the 2020 elections.

The debate rages on over the contention of the political future of ex-President John Dramani Mahama after the exit from government of the former leader over the weekend.

Some elements within the NDC stock are seriously rooting for him[Mahama] to stand for the position of the Flagbearer again in the party, but his immediate family insists that the former President should call time on partisan politics.

Speaking on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Tuesday, Mr Adams said the withdrawal of Mahama from leading the party in the 2020 contest will be a big blow to the NDC.

“If such position is likely to cause the party’s future, is it not right that we demonstrate to save the party? I’m ready to demonstrate now,” Adams said.

When he was asked by host Fiifi Banson whether the party was struggling to find a successor for Mahama, Mr. Adams retorted that Mahama’s stature is unequaled in the party now considering the former President’s wealth of experience and background in local politics.

“You don’t need to be in NDC to know that in terms of stature President Mahama tops all. The only thing that can equal to that experience now is the Vice President, whom we an confidently say there is another former Vice President within our system, which is Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur. Apart from that most of them left in that pack, their experience is at the level of Speaker, minister, MP and etc.
