The Executive Director of a policy think-tank, Centre for Constitutional Order (CENCORD), Solomon Osei-Fosu has reiterated that, the Akuffo Addo’s government should rely on its crafted national coordinated programme which ought to be approved by parliament to develop the country and not the NPP’s manifesto.

According to Mr Osei-Fosu, a party’s manifesto cannot be approved by the legislative arm of government to develop the country because; the constitution has not made a provision to that effect.

The CENCORD Executive Director further noted that, aspects of the policies and programmes by the NPP’s manifesto can be roped into the national coordinated programme for it to be approved by Parliament before it is actualised.

The public can then hold government accountable based on the national document and not just a party’s manifesto which is skeletal in nature.

The national coordinated programme is very detailed and would spell out source of funding for government’s projects and programmes and also set a target for them which are missing in a party’s manifesto.
