Successive Govts Accused Of Paying Lip Service To Fight Against Drug Abuse

Government has been urged to make the fight against drug abuse in Ghana a major priority to help promote the development of the youth.

The Executive Director of Philip Foundation, Mr. Boateng Mensah, made this appeal in an interview with Peace fm.

He observed that successive governments over the years have paid lip service to the fight against drugs by focusing mostly on enforcement of the law and not doing much in the area of prevention.

He explained that NGOs engaged in drug abuse prevention activities do not receive the needed support from government.

He emphasized the need for government to mobilize international support to help promote reduction in demand for drugs in the country.

Mr. Boateng Mensah who is also the Chairman of the Ghana Association of Private Voluntary Organizations in Development, advised President Nana Akufo-Addo to wage a serious war against corruption in the country.
