Ghana @60 Commitee To Work For Free

Members of the committee to organize the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Ghana’s independence have resolved not to receive any allowances for work to be done. “The service to be rendered by the committee members will be strictly on a pro bono basis.”

The decision was reached at the committee’s maiden meeting on Saturday. In a resolution after the meeting, the committee to be chaired by Ken Amankwa said the decision “was largely motivated by H.E the President’s attitude towards public service, that is to say, selfless service to one’s homeland”. “Further, we are determined to religiously be guided by H.E. the President’s directive for members to be mindful of the difficult financial and economic circumstances of our country, regarding our 60th anniversary commemoration.”

Members asked for the support and prayers of Ghanaians “in this endeavour”. The 60th Anniversary Planning Committee was inaugurated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo last Thursday to oversee activities surrounding March 6, 2017 celebrations. The Committee is made up of 30 members.
