Footballer Jailed 20 Years For Defilement

An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced Vessel Kwasi Yeboah a footballer to 20 years imprisonment for defiling an eight year old girl at Kisseman, Accra.

This was after the court had found Yeboah aged 30, guilty on the charge of defilement at the end of the trial.
The sentence of Yeboah however sent her mother screaming aloud amidst tears at the court premises.
Two relations who accompanied Yeboah’s mother had a hectic time escorting her into a taxi.

Yeboah’s mother shouted: “Oh my son is the only thing I have. I am mad, I cannot go home.”
Prosecuting Inspector Judith Asante told the court that the complainant in the matter was a Chop bar operator aged 27 and mother of the victim.

According to the prosecutor, the victim lived with her grandmother at Agona Nyarkrom in the Central Region but came to spend some holidays with her mother at Kisseman, Accra.

Inspector Asante said the convict also resides near the complainant’s house.
Prosecution said on August 27, 2015, at about 17:30 hours, the complainant returned from town and found out that the victim was not in a good mood.

Prosecution said the younger brother of the victim aged four years informed the complainant that he saw blood stains in the pants of the victim whiles she was washing.

Based on that the complainant asked the victim, she informed her mother that whiles she (complainant) was away she and her brother went to watch television in the convict’s room.

Whilst in the room, the victim said Yeboah asked her to come and lay on his mattress on the floor and she obliged.
Prosecution said Yeboah took advantage of that and defiled her whilst the victim’s brother was in the room.
After the act, prosecution said Yeboah told her not to inform anyone. The victim and her brother however left Yeboah’s room.

The matter was then reported to the Police and Yeboah was arrested while a Medical form was issued by the Police for the victim to medically examined and treated.
