Karadzic Trial 'Set To Continue'

The genocide and war crimes trial of Radovan Karadzic is set to continue despite fears the former Bosnian Serb leader may again refuse to turn up. He boycotted the trial's start last week and judges will have to decide how to proceed if he continues to do so. Mr Karadzic denies all charges and says he needs more time to prepare his case. Prosecutors, who have branded him the leader of an ethnic cleansing campaign in the Bosnian war of the 1990s, are to continue setting out their case. In opening remarks last week, prosecutors said Mr Karadzic had "harnessed the forces of nationalism, hatred and fear" to pursue his vision of a state without Muslims. The 64-year-old, who is representing himself at the trial, says he still needs at least nine months to prepare his defence.
