Techiman Methodist To Set Up Educational Fund

The Techiman Circuit of the Methodist Church is to set up an educational fund to offer scholarship to brilliant but needy students. Besides, the fund would be used to improve infrastructure and facilities of schools in the area. The Right Reverend Nuh Ben Abubekr, former Kumasi Diocesan Bishop and Superintendent Minister of the Circuit, said education promotion formed part of the Church's strategic plan. He was speaking at a maiden thanksgiving service at the Techiman Ebenezer Methodist Church on Sunday. "It is regrettable that the Methodist Church has no Senior High School in Techiman area", he said, adding, "let us build one to enhance the quality of education and as part of the church's social responsibility". Rt Rev Abubekr assured the members that he would ensure the sustainability of the church's evangelism programmes. He drew attention to the need for Christians to lead upright lives to serve as role models. The Superintendent Minister called for co-operation among the clergy and laity and that they should also work to bring some comfort to the less-privileged.
