(Photos) President Swears-In New Hajj Board

Members of the newly composed Hajj Board, have been officially sworn into office by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The ceremony took place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidency on Thursday, February 16, 2017.  

It was held in the presence of the Vice President of the Republic, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

The membership of the board is made up of Sheikh I.C. Quaye (Chairman), Abdul Malik Adams Gariba, Farouk Hamza, Sheikh Amin Bonsu, Alhaji Inusa Amadu, Kamal-Deen Abdulai, Ismaela Ibrahim, Mohammadu Osmanu Alidu, Mohammed Osumanu Yunusah, Braimah Adams, and Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Mohammed.

President Akufo-Addo, in his brief remarks, charged members of the Board to ensure a smooth, seamless organization of this year’s Hajj and subsequent pilgrimages. He also requested for prayers for the nation at this year’s Hajj.

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu  Nuhu Sharubutu,  on his part, urged  the new Board to live by the oath sworn to the President and the nation, and deliver on their mandate.

On behalf of the members, Chairman of the Board, Sheikh I.C. Quaye, thanked President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the National Chief Imam for the confidence reposed in them and assured the people of Ghana that the new Board will not disappoint.  

He also asked for the support of all Ghanaians, especially Muslims.

Present at the inauguration of the new Board were the Chief of Staff, Mrs Akosua Frema Osei–Opare; Nana Asante Bediatuo (Executive Secretary to the President), National Security Minister Hon Albert Kan-Dapaah and other dignitaries.
