It has been established by some residents in Buipe that workers of Central Gonja District Assembly do not work on Fridays.
The residents’ assertion which was cross checked by the GNA established that most of the District Assembly workers living outside their districts abandon their post on Thursdays and return to work on Tuesdays of the preceding week.
When GNA visited the Central Gonja Assembly on Friday afternoon, there was only one staff of the Assembly, who was at post sitting at the offices of the Public Works Department.
As of 1500 hours GMT when GNA was leaving the District Assembly, other staff members had not returned.
The only officer at post refused to speak on authority, but said he believed other staff members went for Friday prayers. Meanwhile, air conditioners and lights were on in some of the offices that were locked.
