I Dont Fear Lawsuits - Obiri Boahene To Kofi Adams

The Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen has promised a showdown in court as he faces-off with Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), Mr. Kofi Adams who has sued him.

Mr Adams, has instituted a legal action against the NPP deputy scribe and two others for alleged defamatory comments made against him.

In a writ filed at the High Court(General Jurisdiction) Kofi Adams said the defendants have unfairly accused him of transferring the ownership of some state vehicles into his name. Kofi Adams in his writ, is therefore praying the court to compel Obiri Boahene to compensate him with GHc1 million for damages.

But in an interview, Nana Obiri Boahen who claims he’s yet to receive the writ has expressed his readiness to wage a legal battle to defend his position on the matter.

“I’m very ready anyday to contest this case in court, as a seasoned lawyer, I don’t fear lawsuits and going to court. Im yet to receive the writ and so I don’t want to run commentary on the matter. I’m in Sunyani through out the week resting, I’ll be in Accra next week. When I come, the bailiff can call on phone and tell me wherever he is, I’ll go and meet him and receive the writ.”

Meanwhile, the five cars in contention which were seized by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service were released to the National Organiser of the main opposition NDC after he had provided all the necessary documents covering them to ascertain the ownership of the cars.

But Obiri Boahen irked by the action of the CID petitioned the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Apeatu-Asante, over the release of Kofi Adams’ five vehicles.

According to him, the (CID) of the Ghana Police Service did a poor job in investigating the true ownership of the NDC’s National Organizer’s vehicles.
