Parliamentary Select Committee Tour West Blue Consulting Ltd

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Trade, Industries and Tourism on Tuesday paid a visit to West Blue Consulting Ltd to familiarize with the company's activities.

The Parliamentarians toured the West Blue Consulting Ltd, IT Company which provides technical assistance to the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority for the National Single Window project, to support the company to generate enough revenue for the country.

Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Titus Glover, NPP MP for Tema East and leader of the delegation, explained in an interview with Peace news that "most of the Members on the Committee are new Members of Parliament and that they are there to acquaint themselves with their activities, interact with them and get to know their challenges and help address them".

Hon. Glover assured West Blue of the Committee’s support to execute its mandate and urged the company to keep up with their good work to facilitate trade at the ports.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of West Blue Consulting, Madam Valentina Mintah addressing the delegation listed challenges confronting the company as wrong description of items, manipulation of shipping items, misclassification and undervaluation, and called on the appropriate State authorities to ensure compliance and frequent financial reporting by the banks on trade transactions.

Ms. Mintah added that her outfit will roll out several activities in the next quarter which would include training and Go-live or exporter’s registration for the Ghana Export Promotion Authority; automation of importer registration, as well as exporter registration for Food and Drugs Authority and automation of courier process for Ghana Post.

She said her company will help government to generate revenues through their Single Window project.

She also asked the committee to help demystify misconceptions associated with the company's activities.
