Abossey-Okai Spare Parts Dealers Demand Apology From Ato Forson

Abossey-Okai Spare Parts dealers in Accra have condemned former Deputy Finance Minister, Casel Ato Forson, for claiming that the abolishing of import duty on spare parts would soon make the country a dumping ground for over-aged vehicles and parts.

They are, therefore, demanding an apology and retraction from him.

The chairman of Abossey-Okai Spare Parts dealers, Sammy Siaw Ampadu, in a statement reminded Ato Forson as traders they do not involve in politics.

He explained that it is the duty of the government to create wealth for the citizens, including spare parts dealers.

“We were shocked and disappointed when the Former Deputy Finance Minister in the Mahama-led administration and the Member of Parliament for Ejumako-Esiam-Enyan Constituency in the Central Region, Ato Forson, condemned the abolishment of the import duty on spare parts, claiming the move would soon make the country a dumping ground for over-aged vehicles and parts,” the statement said.

“So does that mean the NDC wanted us [spare parts dealers] to vote for them to continue ruling Ghana so that they can collapse our businesses?

“We feel Mr Ato Forson is belittling our intelligent and seeks to create the impression that we the traders do not know what we are doing,” Mr Ampadu added.
