Olympics Rubbish Strand Appointment Reports

Club chief Fred Pappoe says no agreement has been reached with the former Medeama coach to replace under-fire Godwin Attram.

Great Olympics director Fred Pappoe says speculations that Swedish manager Tom Strand is set to replace Godwin Attram as head coach of the club are untrue.

After helping the side secure promotion back to the elite division, Attram's future has been thrown in doubt following the 'Dade' Boys' poor start to the Ghana Premier League season.

The Accra-based side are rock-bottom of the table with just two points to their name after matchday five.

"There has been no decision to bring Tom Strand, even though he has been recommended alongside other coaches," Pappoe told Nhyira FM.

“I don’t know the basis of the fans who are calling for the [head] of the coach.

“We have played very well in all our matches and scored in each of them."

Playing at home at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, Olympics were held by Wafa to goalless draw, prolonging their wait for a first win.

The team was, however, without lead striker Abel Manomey due to injury.

“We don’t have a problem in our strike force despite missing a very key player," Pappoe said.

"Wafa was the first team we couldn’t score against, as we missed a lot of chances, and I know they are working very hard to solve the problem.

“Sometimes, I blame some of you guys [media]; you give prominence to some of these loose talks, too much to make it appear as if everything is not well in Olympics.

“Well, for every one supporter who makes such negative comment, there are about 20 who will say something different."

Strand, meanwhile, led Medeama to win the FA Cup in 2014-15.
