More than fifty (50) women comprising water vendors, plastic waste pickers and Voltic’s Coolpac franchisees workers have taken part in a chain of awareness-raising and empowerment events in Accra organised by Voltic (GH) Limited, producers of Voltic Natural Mineral Water, to commemorate International Women’s Day.

The events, which started from the Pokuase and Ofankor transport terminals  and the  Accra-Tema Motorway tollbooth, brought  together female employees of the company who engaged and assisted female vendors to sell their wares before moving to the Achimota Retail Centre for a seminar on the theme  “Be Bold for Change; Dream Again”.

Presenting a practical example of the importance of goal-setting and planning, two female students from the Right to Dream Academy, Patience Kum and Fati Salifu, shared their story of starting from ‘nowhere’ and how the academy is helping them attain their dreams through various character development programmes.

Naa Adokailey Amofa, the Human Resource Manager of Voltic, who spoke at the seminar, indicated the need to celebrate and encourage the everyday woman striving to provide for herself and her household. She said “these women are successful in their own rights.

Most of them have shelved their dreams to support the livelihoods of their families. Voltic is pleased to lean in and encourage these women to dream again while directing them towards various sustainable means of financial freedom”; adding that “our decision to pay the initial pensions fund contributions at United Pension Trustees for 50 women who took part in the events is our way of saying ayekoo to all women contributing  to the sustainability of our business”.

The event, which was organized with media support from GHONE Television, also provided United Pensions Trustees an opportunity to educate the participants on various investment options they could consider as informal sector workers in order to secure their future.
