At a brief ceremony in Accra, Betway Ghana has presented a cheque of GH₵990,650 to a lucky customer who won their ‘Pick 15 jackpot’ betting over the week.

Kwame Fosuhene on record has won the biggest sporting jackpot in the country's history after placing a GH₵4 bet on European football matches with Betway Ghana.

The punter, a resident of Kumasi won GH₵990,650 (£173,000) after placing a bet on 15 matches across the English Championship, English Premier League, Italian Serie A, French Ligue 1, Spanish La Liga and German Bundesliga.

He could have won as much as GH₵1,600,000 ((£280,000) if his final bet was recorded but Kwame Fosuhene chose to cash-out before West Ham United faced Chelsea in the English Premier League on Monday night.

Even though Kwame has been given a financial adviser to council him, he told journalists at the presentation ceremony that he will invest in movie production and pursue his music career.

“I have not decided on what to do yet but I am a movie producer and a musician so I will look at that with the help of the financial adviser. It’s wise to seek knowledge” he said

As to what to buy ‘first’ with the money, he said – “I will think about that” – but was quick to say “I will spend two week in the State”
