SECURITY ALERT: Banda Ahenkro Residents Allegedly Threaten Lives Of Govt Workers

Scores of government workers in the Banda Ahenkro district in the Brong Ahafo region are reported to have fled from the area following some xenophobic threats on their lives by unidentifiable persons.

A letter from the unknown faces sent to one of the government schools in the district warned the workers to seek shelter elsewhere.

A group calling itself, Concerned Members of Banda Ahenkro, is said to have gone angry and taken over public offices in the area.

"If you don't leave the district, then we cannot guarantee your safety here . . . What is happening to strangers in South Africa will happen to you," portions of the letter read.

Interviewing a teacher at a government school in Ahenkro who spoke on condition of anonymity, he noted that his colleagues and him have filed a complaint to the District Police.

"We are leaving because we don't want to take risks," he told Henryson Okrah, Peace FM's Regional Correspondent.

According to ASP Asamoah Agyekum, the Wenchi Municipal Police Commander, the security has been beefed up at the area to protect lives and properties.
