An Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday remanded one Emmanuel Amoansi, unemployed for preparing to commit crime and possessing firearms without lawful authority.
Emmanuel was said to have prepared to commit crime, having in his possession three locally manufactured pistols with three cartridges and 5mm live ammunitions without lawful authority.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges but was remanded by the court to reappear on March 28. The facts of the case, as presented by Police Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu, are that, the complainants are police officers of the Regional CID, while the accused person is unemployed and lives at Kwashieman.
He said barely six months ago, the accused person was employed by one Joseph Yaw Awuku, Marketing Manager of EXXON Petroleum Limited at Nkawkaw as a manager.
He said in January, the accused person was fired by the company as a result of disloyalty and mismanagement of company funds.
The Prosecution said being unhappy about the situation the accused decided to engage armed men to attack and rob the Manager at gun point.
The prosecution said on March 7, at about 0400 hours the police had a tip off that, Emmanuel had engaged two armed men from Accra to attack and rob Joseph at Nkawkaw.
On receipt of this information, a team of police personnel from the Regional CID/Accra immediately proceeded to the filling station, mounted surveillance on him, and with the assistance of informants, the accused was arrested.
Police Chief Inspector Adu said a search conducted on him revealed three locally made pistols with three cartridges and 5mm live ammunitions, a jack knife and one black face mask.
He told the court that in the accused investigation caution statement, he admitted the offence and stated among other thing that, he engaged robbers to attack Joseph due to his refusal to compensate him after his dismissal.
