VIDEO: Herbert Mensah Dismisses Report...'I'm Not Joining Hearts Of Oak!'

Former Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Herbert Kwadwo Amponsah Mensah, has rubbished media reports linking him with the Hearts of Oak vacant top post.

Local media reports had earlier claimed majority shareholder of the club, Togbe Afede XIV, has contacted the Herbert Mensah, who is currently president of the Ghana Rugby Association (GRA) to fill in the vacuum created by Vincent Odotei Sowah.

The club’s Managing Director job became vacant after Vincent Odotei Sowah who is a Member of Parliament (MP) for the La Dadekotopong constituency quit his post after he was nominated as deputy minister-designate for communications.

But the business mogul, who placed Asante Kotoko on a high pedestal in Africa when he was the club's Chief Executive from 1999 to 2002, dismissed claims of him taking over the position of the outgoing MD.

He has been credited with transforming the Porcupine Warriors and making it more attractive by gaining lucrative sponsorship deals, sparking a wave of excitement among their teeming fans and shoring up massive professionalism in the running of the biggest club in the country.

He revealed in a video, copied to Peacefmonline.com, that he has no interest whatsoever in managing Hearts of Oak.

According to him, he has "decided to get involved and help Ben Nunoo Mensah and the Board of Ghana Olympic Committee."

"The world of football is fantastic. It's full of actions. It's full of stories. It's full of rumor; innuendo and I did receive a call this morning...and they said you're joining Hearts of Oak. And I said no, I'm not. Definitely, I'm not," he stressed.
