Mahama Will Lose 10 Times If . . . - NDC Former National Organizer

Former National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan has disclosed that the setback which caused the defeat of his party in the 2016 elections has nothing to do with former President John Mahama.

According to him, the major cause of the NDC’s defeat in the 2016 election has everything to do with the weak structures behind the Presidential Candidate.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Yaw Boateng Gyan averred that former President Mahama needs no further introduction considering his hard work in the infrastructural development of the country, but his downfall was the structures behind him.

Explaining the structures, the former NDC National Organizer mentioned that there was a wide gap between the branch executives and the people in-charge of the 2016 campaign.

He further revealed that there was no unity between the new executives and the old executives of the NDC as the latter were sidelined during the campaign with the excuse that the new executives are in control of the affairs of the party.

“Mahama needs no further introduction but the structures behind him were weak and so if we don’t put proper measures in place to make the structures strong, if we bring John back 10 times; he will lose 10 times. We need to change the structures and stop saying we are bringing John again and also calling him incompetent; all these comments are unnecessary,” he stated.

There was apathy in the 2016 elections if you look at the results, because the branch executives said they were sidelined during the campaign season and the old executives too were pushed aside; all these fought against us as those who felt marginalized stayed back to watch the new executives to carry on with the campaign,” he revealed.
