Botwe C'ttee Must Allow Aggrieved NDC Members To Undergo "Verbal Therapy" - Alhaji Dori

The humiliatory defeat the National Democratic Congress suffered in the just ended 2016 general elections has had a psychological effect on them, a member of the party, Alhaji Dori has said.

The defeat according to him has left thousands of NDC members highly aggrieved, confused and devastated and “keeping quiet over some of the issues keeps irritating party folks”, Alhaji Dori bemoans.

The former NDC parliamentary aspirant for Bawku Central believes that aggrieved party members are undergoing serious psychological trauma which need to be cured through talking freely especially to the media and that must not to be seen as an attack on the party but as a "talking cure" on the torture they are going through.

“I believe a lot of people who share the same sentiments and don't know how to air it will feel relieved hearing such issues being discussed in the media by party functionaries”, he noted.

In its attempt to manage fallout from the defeat, the NDC formed a committee, headed by a former Finance Minister, Prof Kwesi Botchwey, to go round the country to collate views of the party followers to determine what caused their defeat at the polls.

At a news conference to announce the formation of the committee, Mr Asiedu Nketiah advised party supporters to channel all their grievances through the committee, instead of accusations and counter-accusations that were going on among the party supporters.

But in Alhaji Dori’s view, talking freely in the media must be seen as an alternative source of information to complement the work of the committee rather than seeing it as an impediment to the committee's work.

“I'm therefore appealing to the committee to allow the free talk to psychologically cure the minds of our aggrieved members as we wait patiently for the report", he said.
