NGO donates to Nsawam Prisons

Passion for Needy, a charitable organization of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), on Thursday donated items worth GHC4,142.00 to the inmates of Nsawam Medium Security Prison. The items, which were distributed equally between the male and the female prisons, included two digital satellite receivers, two 32-inch plasma television sets, 20 packs of toilets rolls, 10 cartons of washing soap and 10 cartons of washing detergent. Presenting the items Mrs. Janet Torgbor El-Askar, President of Passion for Needy, said the NGO decided to make the donation so that they could primarily watch live broadcast of programmes from Emmanuel TV, which is owned by the church headquartered in Nigeria. "We decided to present to you these satellites so that through them, you can have access to the transforming word of God. Prophet T.B. Joshua, our head pastor, formed this organization so that through it we can reach out to the needy and the neglected in our society," she said. Receiving the items, Deputy Superintendent of Prisons Samuel Adzewodoh thanked the NGO for its kind gesture and urged other charitable organisations to emulate them. The team took the opportunity to preach to the inmates of the Female Prison and promised them more assistance from the church. She mentioned the payment of fees of some needy students and the payment of hospital bills for defaulting patients at the Ridge and Korle Bu Teaching hospitals as some of the activities of the organization since it was formed in February.
