A Sales Assistant who is accused of allegedly stealing assorted cell phones valued at 133, 867 dollars property of Itsalat Company Limited has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
Sofia Marias Kardani, a Moroccan national pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Mrs Ruby Naa Adjeley Quaison admitted Kardani to bail in the sum of GH 600,000 cedis with two sureties one to be justified to reappear on April 10.
She is to deposit her travelling documents to the court’s Registry.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stephen Adjei said the complainant Ahmed Ali is an Accountant working with Itsalat International Ghana Limited, a firm that deals in assorted cell phones and their accessories.
The company also owns retail shops named i-2 Company limited at Marina Mall and other locations in Accra.
ASP Adjei said the accused was employed in 2015 to take charge of the Marina Mall retail shop. During the latter part of the year 2016, the company detected that the accused person was unable to account for phones supplied to her by her employers.
According to the prosecutor, stock taking revealed that 514 assorted cell phones amounting to 133,867.91 dollars could not be accounted for.
A report was made to the Police and accused person was arrested. During Police interrogation, the accused person said she sold the phones to some individuals on credit and they were yet to pay her.
ASP Adjei said Kardani give the name and phone numbers of those she alleged bought the cells phones but when they were contacted they denied having purchased phones from the accused on credit.
