The Headmaster of Kukuom Agricultural Senior High School, Andy Gyabaah in the Asunafo South District of the Brong Ahafo Region has denied allegations making waves on social media platforms and some radio stations that he has killed one of the students for ritual purposes.
Mr. Andy who spoke to DAILY GUIDE on phone denied the allegation vehemently saying he has not even killed a fowl before let alone a human being. The headmaster, who due to the allegation had vacated his post almost a week ago, due to threats on his life by both students and families of the deceased, described the allegations as fabricated and unfounded and is waiting for autopsy report from hospital authorities to clear his name.
He explained that the school has a population of 1,300 students and therefore could not know if a student was on campus or not. He said the issue had been reported to the police for investigations and to the Regional Directorate of Education for direction. According to him, for his safety he had been advised to leave the campus till tempers come down. All efforts to speak to the Regional Director of Education failed.
It must be noted that family members of one of the students, now deceased, Abdul Raheem Ali last week Thursday stormed the school premises in a 207 bus and on motorbikes and demanded the whereabouts of the their ward.
This was after some of the students informed Ali’s parents about the disappearance of their ward from campus four days earlier. According to Ali Seidu, an elder brother of the deceased who spoke to DAILY GUIDE on phone, after receiving the information, he and other family members went to the school to demand the whereabouts of their ward.
He said, unfortunately it looked like the headmaster and the entire staff of the school were not even aware of Raheem’s disappearance.
A search party made up of the school cadet, family members and the police comb through the campus and the thickets but did not find him. He said the next day when both family members and students were still on campus looking for the body, they had a call from the police that their brother’s body was found at the Goaso Government Hospital.
He said the police told them that they found the body on the campus. This, he stressed, shocked them because they did not understand why the police refused to call them to where their brother’s dead body was found but decided to convey the body to hospital before informing them. This made them suspect a foul play. He alleged that the students informed them that that was not the first time a student had died strangely on the campus and they believed something fishy was happening.
Meanwhile the deceased had been buried according to Islamic traditions. His brother said though post mortem was carried out on the body, they are yet to receive any report from the police.
