Spio-Garbrah Is Telling The Truth – Solomon Nkansah

The loss suffered by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in last year’s presidential and parliamentary elections was extremely “shameful” and a “history” in the party’s time past, Solomon Nkansah has said.

According to the National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), never in the history of the party has such trounce occurred to them.

The NDC lost both presidential and parliamentary elections to the New Patriotic Party.

The NPP presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, polled 5,716,026 votes (53.85%) to beat incumbent President John Mahama who had 4,713, 277 votes (44.40%) as announced by Electoral Commission chairperson Charlotte Osei.

Ever since, blame games have been a serious issue in the party, some leadership of the party are pointing fingers at each other for the defeat.

Former Minister of Trade and Industry, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, has also described the current state of the NDC as a ‘broken down vehicle’ that needs serious repairs before it can get to the road again.

Spio believes that the damage caused to the party in the 2016 elections should be addressed before the party can tread on a winning path.

Speaking on the issue on Neat FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Solomon Nkansah however sided with the former trade minister.

He was of a view that, issues raised by Ekwow Spio-Garbrah must be consider and addressed by party leadership before the next elections.

“The 2016 defeat is really a history in the party. We’ve not seen that before in the history of Ghana and in our party, such a shameful defeat. Our party is indeed in crisis and we are not in the best of time. We should all agree to what Mr. Spio-Garbrah is saying and solve the problem amicably. No one should attack him. Our car is broken as he is saying,” he said.
