State Institutions Under Heavy Security After Attack On NHIA By Invisible Forces

The Eastern Regional Police Command has launched a manhunt for members of the invincible Forces who invaded and locked up the office of the Eastern Regional manager of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

The Invincible Forces members, numbering about 20 and wearing black dresses, on Monday besieged the Eastern regional office of the NHIA and succeeded in locking up the regional manager’s office amidst shoving of everybody.

When a team of police personnel from the Eastern regional police headquarters got to the scene, the macho men had fled.

The Public Relations Office of the Ghana Police Service, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, told reporters yesterday that the perpetrators were being trailed for arrest and prosecution.

He said the regional police command would not countenance any act of hooliganism and lawlessness.

He revealed that some major institutions are being put under security watch as appointments by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo trickles down to the regional level.

The action of the macho men brought to a standstill activities at the NHIA as staff at the office took cover. However, work resumed after the police arrived at the scene to provide security.

The lawless act came after President Akufo-Addo pledged to clamp down on vigilantism, thus ensuring the rule of law resigns supreme without fear or favour, regardless of party affiliations and ethnicity.

“It will not be under my watch that people will take the law into their own hands, neither will it be under my watch that the laws of our land will not be enforced. That will never happen. The law will work without fear or favour,” he stated on Saturday.
