Ayariga Doesn't Deserve A Seat In Parliament - Atik Mohammed

Atik Mohammed says that Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga doesn't deserve a seat in Parliament.

Commenting on Mahama Ayariga's recent behaviour before the House following an opportunity given him to apologize over his bribery allegations, Atik Mohammed held that the Parliamentarians had been very charitable to him (Mr. Ayariga).

To him, Mahama Ayariga's hesitant apology to the House following the Joe Ghartey Committee report is an affront to Parliament and so stated emphatically that "this man (Ayariga) does not deserve a seat in that House any longer."

Parliament was "being extremely charitable . . . Hon. Ayariga, the House of Parliament was extremely magnanimous in just saying that to redeem yourself, all you needed to do was to render an unqualified apology. In fact, they made it so simple," he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo'.

Atik Mohammed further stressed that Mr. Ayariga's conduct before the House on Thursday, March 30, after the Committee presented their report to the Speaker is contemptuous.

The instruction was very explicit, render an unqualified apology. It was as simple as you could have had it” but “he qualified it in the most ignominious manner, in the most disrespectful manner...What he did also amounted to another contempt because the entire House agreed that he should do this and you refused to do it. That amounts to contempt. He’s contemptuous and you cannot continue committing contempt against the very House you’re supposed to be part of," he stated.
