Court Rules On 13 Run Away "Delta Force" Members

A Kumasi Circuit Court has ruled over the thirteen (13) members of the pro-NPP vigilante group - "Delta Force" - who reportedly bolted from the courtroom when pandemonium broke out after the court ordered that they be remanded in custody.

There was unrestrained disorder at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Circuit Court days ago when the "Delta Force" stomed the law court to set free the 13 accused persons.

Following the invasion by the "Delta Force", the 13 accused persons reportedly absconded but later reported themselves to the Regional Police Command.

They were arraigned before Circuit Court 3 today.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Ekow Mensah ruling over the case, has fined each person a sum of GHC 2,400 equivalent to 200 penalty units and they were also made to sign a bond of conduct for 6 months or they will be jailed for 6months.

Peace FM's Ashati Regional Correspondent, Sampson Nyamekye filed a report on the morning programme 'Kokrokoo'.

Meanwhile, the accused persons are still standing trial with the offence on conspiracy to commit crime, assault on a public officer, causing unlawful damage and preventing a public officer from doing his lawful duty.

They will re-appear in court on 20th April for the case to be heard.
