Boy Suffers Groin Injuries For Stealing Five Cedis

A tip-off by a Good Samaritan has saved the life of an eleven year old boy, from dying of deep burn wounds inflicted on him by his patents.

Adolf Essel, the victim and a class four pupil of the Kojokrom Catholic Primary, was severely tortured by his parents for allegedly stealing five cedis and is currently on admission at the Takoradi Government Hospital.

Narrating the incident to Ghana News Agency at Kojokrom, near Takoradi, Mr Paa Kwesi Simpson, a witness in the case, said Adolf lives with his father Adolf Essel, Snr, alias Kwaata, 44, a taxi driver and his stepmother at Mpintsin in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis.

He said as a result of the alleged theft, the couple allegedly took the victim to their friend's house at Inchaban Nkwanta, a locality of the Shama District on Wednesday April 5, 2017, where they boiled water and poured it on the groins of the boy resulting in severe burns.

He said the couple then applied gentian violet on the burns and kept the victim indoors to avoid attracting the attention of other tenants in the house.

Mr Simpson said luck, however, eluded them when a co-tenant saw the victim and hinted the Samaritan, who in turn informed the Kojokrom police.

The father was later arrested and placed in police custody for interrogation as investigation continues.

The victim, who could not participate in the end of the term examination because of his condition, is currently on admission at the Takoradi Government Hospital under the watch of the Metropolitan DOVVSU Director, Ms Elizabeth Dorman.
