Kenichi Expresses Interest In Kotoko Job

The Phobians former manager says he will not hesitate to join fierce rivals if contacted.

Former Hearts of Oak coach Kenichi Yastuhashi has revealed his readiness to join Asante Kotoko if he is considered by the club's top hierarchy.

The Porcupine Warriors are without a head coach after Croatian Zdravko Lugarusic was sacked this week, despite the club sitting third on the Ghana Premier League log with 18 points.

Kenichi, who left Hearts for Nigerian side Ifeanyi Ubah last year, is without a club after leaving Cambodian side Tiger FC few weeks ago.

"I would like to return to Ghana Premier League and I hope to return very soon.  Kotoko are one of the biggest clubs in Ghana and Africa and I'm interested in their job now that they are without a head coach," Kenichi told Goal.

"It is a big club with lots of history and culture and everyone respect them. My agent is aware of my interest and is working around the clock so I hope to hear good news. That is all I can say now, I have no further comments," he added.

The Porcupine Warriors have announced that assistant coach Godwin Ablordey will be caretaker coach until the first half of the season comes to an end with four matches remaining.

However, club legend Stephen Frimpong Manso, whose son Edwin Tuffour Frimpong, is a defender for the first team, has been appointed to play an advisory role to Ablordey and the duo will be in charge for the first time when they travel to Wa to lock horns with title holders Wa All Stars.

Kotoko are without a victory in their previous four games played and have scored only two goals within this period, conceding three.

Goal understands that French coach Patrick Aussems, who holds Uefa A license and previously managed French Ligue 2 side Evian Thonan Gillard, Benin national team as well as Sudanese giants Al Hilal, has also expressed interest to replace Lugarusic.
