Christians urged to be committed to God's work

The Reverend Monsignor James Baffour Addoh, Parish Priest of the Saint Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Kumasi, has admonished Christians to be submissive and committed to God's work. He said the lifestyles of Christians should be centred on service to God through peaceful co-existence and love for others. Rev. Monsignor Addoh was delivering a sermon at the 30th anniversary celebration of the Ashanti Catholic Church Choirs' Association in Kumasi on Sunday. The Association comprises 45 Catholic Church choirs within the Kumasi Archdiocese. The celebration was organised under the theme: "Let us Stand Up and Build". Activities earmarked include talk shops, picnics and music festivals. Rev. Monsignor Addoh further advised the choristers to eschew pride and let their lives to be good examples unto others. He also urged them to always cooperate with the Church and the executives of the Association so as to ensure the progress of the Church. Mr James Owusu-Afriyie, President of the Association, said the Association had helped in the promotion of talented singers through the establishment of music school and the training of choirmasters. He appealed to the Church to support the Association financially to be able to bring into fruition its programmes. The Vice President of the Association, Mr John Onibie Cornah, said the Association has been divided into five zones in order to ensure effective organization. Mr John Kisco Quaicoe, the immediate Past President of the Association said the Association, which started with eight members now has over 2,000 members. Special awards were presented to outstanding members from the various choir groups.
