Assembly commends Obuasi Municipal Police Commander

The Obuasi Municipal Assembly (OMA) has commended Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Matthew Asante, the Obuasi Municipal Police Commander for his commitment towards the improvement of security and facilities at the Obuasi Central police station. The commendation, which came from the Justice and Security Sub-Committee of the Assembly expressed satisfaction with the commander's inter-personal relationship, which it said had raised the morale of personnel. It said through the initiative of ASP Asante, the Commander's office had been refurbished. Mr Prince Agyei-Badu, Chairman of the Committee, gave the commendation when members visited the station on a fact-finding tour of security installations in the municipality. The Committee inspected offices, police cells and interacted with personnel. ASP Asante said fencing of the police station and the quarters was his next priority to ward off intruders. He said although crime wave had reduced, it was important for the public to be security conscious since theft still remained a big challenge. ASP Asante said, at present the station lacked vehicles and accommodation and appealed to the government and the Municipal Assembly to come to their aid.
