Otumfuo advice students to study hard

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has urged students in the country to study hard to enable them to acquire knowledge and skills needed for national development. He reminded them that they were responsible for their future and that government, parents and stakeholders had provided educational facilities, and it behoved them to work hard to achieve excellence. Otumfuo Osei Tutu said these in an address read on his behalf at the launch of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Queen's Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), at Kumasi. The theme for the event was: "Pioneering Co-ordination in the KNUST residential system" is the theme for the celebration. Otumfuo Osei Tutu said he would support plans for the establishment of an Information and Communication Technology Centre (ICT) at the Hall to facilitate academic work. The Hall Master, Dr Richard Akromah said 50 years in the life of an institution, presented an opportunity for assessment, stock-taking and evaluation of the past in order to plan for the future. He said that 20 desktop computers would initially be installed at the ICT centre. Dr Akroma said 40 computers would be needed at the centre and appealed to former students of the Hall and other public spirited individuals and organizations to support the ICT project.
