The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah, has urged the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to execute his mandate devoid of partisanship.

He admonished him to avoid partisanship in his approach to issues and take the development of the entire metropolis and its people as his pre-occupation at all times.

The regional minister was speaking after he had sworn in the KMA CEO, Mr Osei Assibey Antwi, at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council in Kumasi.
 
The CEO swore the oaths of Office, Allegiance, and Secrecy administered by the regional minister before the assembly members and later inspected a guard of honour mounted by the KMA security at the KMA head office.

Confidence

The regional minister reminded Mr Antwi that with the high level of confidence and trust reposed in him by the President and the chiefs and the assembly members who confirmed his appointment, there was the need for him to also reciprocate the gesture with good work in order not to disappoint them.

He advised him to work hard to win the support of the stakeholders in the metropolis and not to hesitate to solicit counsel and the support of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to enable him to reach out to all segments of society in Kumasi and maintain close relationship with the Manhyia Palace.

Mr Antwi

Mr Antwi pledged to bring Kumasi back to its days as the Garden City of West Africa and also create jobs for the teeming youth.

He explained that his administration would deal with the filth and congestion that had engulfed the city, restore the environment and create a conducive atmosphere that would engender industrialisation to provide decent employment for its people.

Support

Mr Antwi noted that with the overwhelming support of 100 per cent votes from the assembly members who endorsed him, he believed that if they translated that into unity and cordiality, they would be able to surmount the challenges the city faced.

He noted that with the initial signs of unity exhibited by the assembly members, he was optimistic that the assembly would forge ahead in unity to be able to decongest the city of both human and vehicular traffic that was impeding smooth movement of people and causing nuisance.
