Jail Ibrahim Mahama For Fraud - Maurice Ampaw Tells Gov’t

Popular Ghanaian Lawyer, Maurice Ampaw want the younger brother of former President John Dramani Mahama jailed for fraud.

He explained that, Ibrahim Mahama's dud cheques brouhaha must be investigated thoroughly and charged for “intentionally” defrauding the state.

“There’s fraud in this. His reason for issuing the dud cheques so many times is unreasonable and must be arraigned before court,” He said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

Ibrahim Mahama was recently invited by the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) for questioning over some dud cheques he issued to the Customs division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) at the Tema Ports to clear some heavy duty equipment he imported into the country.

After interrogation, the businessman has been ordered by EOCO to hand over his passport whiles investigation is ongoing.

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw who insisted that government must charge Ibrahim Mahama for fraud also noted that- “He [Ibrahim Mahama] has committed a crime. This crime cannot be negotiated. If all elements are established after investigations, he should be punished for that. Ibrahim Mahama must face the law court. He must face a maximum sentence.”
