A team from the National Vehicle Task Force yesterday recovered four more vehicles believed to be state properties hidden at a spraying shop at Dallas House, in Teshie, an Accra suburb.

The Vehicles: two Camrys and two Sprinter buses had been arranged for spraying and other mechanic checks.

One of the Camry cars, a 2015 model had the side mirrors, headlight, tail-lights and bumper changed.

Before the Task Force team was hinted and invaded the premises, the vehicle’s color had already been changed from dark green metallic to ash, one of the sprayers told this paper.

The other Sprinter bus with its initial blue color had also been changed into blue-black and white. Its windscreens, seats and ceilings were also undergoing changes.

One of the Sprinter buses which had also been fixed with a fake registration number GW 5812-15, according to the sprayers and the Task Force Team, had another registration numbers believed to be the vehicle’s original number; GR 5812-17. The original numbers had been embossed on the removed windscreens, and had been parked in a nearby uncompleted building.

“The day they brought the vehicles, they had DV number plates, but later they brought some guys claiming to be spare parts dealers at Abossey-Okai to come and change them, and the windscreens”, another Mechanic  averred.

One of the Sprinter Buses, also found at a mechanic shop at Anoma Antu, also another suburb of Teshie, was also undergoing mechanic checks and spraying.

The Task Force Team, led by Nana Daasebre Kwamena Ahenkora, an ex-soldier, who also doubles as an Assistant Division Officer at the Kotoka International Airport, in an interview with this reporter expressed his commitment to making sure that all stolen vehicles belonging to the state would be retrieved by the close of the year.

“I am appealing to the general public to as a matter of concern and as a citizen, report to any nearby police or the Customs division of any hint on state vehicles which had been stolen, or better still take pictures of the vehicle and its location, and report to the police”, he asserted.

Meanwhile, owners of the vehicle, as at the time of filing this story had not been found, as the sprayers claimed “they did not give us their contacts, they had only been communicating with us on phone as anonymous callers, yesterday one of them came here early in the morning to see how far we had gone with the spraying, and said he was even going to the bank to get some money to come and pay us, but since then we have not heard from them”.

One of the Camry Vehicles had been towed to the Flagstaff house, awaiting clearance and proper documentation from the said owners.
