He gave the assurance during an unannounced tour of some state institutions in Ho.

 

     Mr Emmanuel Quao, Regional Director, Centre for National Culture said about GHC 4 million was needed to complete the 1,500 capacity multi-functional Regional Culture Centre started in 1998, which was about 70 per cent complete, but had been abandoned since 2000.

 

     Mrs Jenifer Kokumah, Secretary at the Ho Sports Stadium said the Stadium, which currently served as the ‘home’ of Dynamo FC, the city’s Division One football team needed to be rehabilitated to cater for other clubs and teams in the Municipality.

 

     Mr Stephen Kojo Mensah, Manager, Volta Regional Museum said the museum was poised to become an “ethnographic” centre of history and culture in the region with support from government.

 

     He said since its establishment in 1973 by the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, the facility had seen no rehabilitation and added that roofs were leaking and electrical systems non- functioning.

 

     Mr Mensah appealed to government to wall the museum to ward off intruders and encroachers.

 

     At the Volta Regional Library, Mr Mensah Vadze, General Services Coordinator, Tallman House Limited, the construction firm working on the project said the Regional Library, being funded by GetFund was 80 per cent complete and had both juvenile and adult libraries, conference facilities, ICT units, and binding rooms.

 

     He said the project started in 2003 and stalled due to lack of funding and needed to be completed to serve the academic needs of the municipality.

 

      Mr Elorm Kodjo Dorvlo, Regional Manager, National Archives said the archives held land, court and individual records from pre to post-colonial era but the office had been using the same furniture since its establishment in 1968.

 

      He said lack of funds had prevented the digitizing of the records which kept accumulating in the limited space available.

 

      Dr Letsa asked heads of the facilities to forward reports and documents on the projects to his office and promised to engage stakeholders towards the completion of the projects.
